Honoring Desire and Change in the New Year
“Desire is the quickening of heart that calls forth change. Somehow the eye of desire can glimpse possibility where the overfamiliarized mind cannot see it.” John O’Donohue “Change is fundamental to being alive. To remain fixed is to rot.” Marianne Williamson How will we cross the threshold from 2017 into 2018? Will we traverse the threshold of this new year with a sense of awareness, honoring, and purpose? Or will we let this opportunity pass us by, as we allow ourselves to be seduced by sameness and safety? In the year ahead, will we be people of courage, desire and possibility, or will we live half-lived lives? The new year brings with it a sense of fresh beginnings. It is a chance to let the old fall away, and step into newness and becoming. Maybe we can take some time to reflect on what we want to let go. Perhaps we can create some space for questions like, what do I want to change about myself and my life? What life would I love to live, and how can I build that life for myself? What is my deepest longing, and what will I do to honor that longing? What would I do if I wasn’t afraid? Let’s embrace this opportunity to honor ourselves and bless this threshold of new beginnings. Join me in taking a moment to be still and sense what courage feels like in our bodies and souls--what desire evokes inside of us--and how possibility expands and enlivens us. May we allow these three--courage, desire and possibility--to become our soul friends in 2018. I leave you with a quote from one of my favorite authors and a blessing from my heart to yours: “It remains the dream of every life to realize itself, to reach out and lift oneself up to greater heights. A life that continues to remain on the safe side of its habits and repetitions, that never engages with the risk of its own possibility, remains an unlived life.”John O’Donohue As you cross the threshold into this new year, may Love hold you in warm embrace. May courage kindle in your heart. May desire stir. And may the promise of possibility open a new path before you. _________________________________________ An Invitation Please join me in the new year for Restorative Yoga and/or Meditation and Transformation Class Restorative Yoga: Slow down, soothe your nervous system and nurture body, mind and spirit.
